John brings over a decade of experience operating at the highest levels, building strategic partnerships with HBCUs and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) as a trusted liaison for outreach, engagement, and funding support. He has helped institutions secure critical funding through grants, scholarships, and federal programs such as Title III, Title V, and workforce development initiatives, driving measurable growth and long-term sustainability.
A Major in the U.S. Army with experience at the Small Business Administration, John combines disciplined leadership with deep expertise in funding pathways that fuel institutional success. He commissioned a major study to address barriers to HBCUs.
Beyond his professional work, John is a passionate cultural advocate with an extensive collection of African-American art and paintings, and a former owner of a custom framing business.
